TAKE HEART

OUR STORY

We are a larger than average family, set out on a mission to change the heart of America. We have a passion for serving others & an incredible love for the poodle. Bojangles was my first ever poodle at age 10. It was this mini-poodle that awakened my heart to the power of a dog. A heart as pure as can be, this poodle showed me what it meant to be loved beyond condition and so the seed was planted! It would be some time after we had children before we would bring another dog into our family with great intention and purpose. And so the search began, to find a child friendly dog that would provide the emotional support our children were so in need of. I soon brought Charlie the golden doodle home to Michigan. Upon arrival, she was adored by all the children. We decided to add a miniature poodle with the hope to one day do a litter of our own, to share this experience and the healing potential we were experiencing, through the love of a dog! This little guy re-awakened my passion for the poodle. As we raised both, we noted the poodle was so calm and attentive. I marveled over his deep red mahogany colored coat. I noted he did not drool, nor did he chew on anything but his toys and treats. Oliver made training easy and with his help, I built the confidence & desire to learn as much as I could for him.

I found myself soon in the AKC Canine College to better understand the psyche of a dog in regards to behavior control therapy. Charlie the golden-doodle, with a bit more energy, was so sweet with the children and was eager to learn. After training and attending local classes, I decided to go for my certification to help others achieve obedience and success in their efforts. I knew the more I could educate myself to educate others, the happier and the more sure the experience, to offer the joy and assurance of providing each puppy a permanent position in a family. To make a long story short...We were hooked and would bring 3 more poodles to our family. Two ESA and one in service for our daughter. A priceless gift; a heart-healer for each child to train and care for. A dogs love is steadfast. Each of our dogs is a certified ESA/Service animal. All of our Poodles serve a valuable place in each of our children's lives and have a healing effect that words cannot express.

Many of our adopted children had suffered severe trauma in their younger years. The love, nurturing and physical aspect of having a dog to hold, train and call their own is both valuable and therapeutic. We felt a calling to share this love for Poodles with the rest of the world. So, we set out on a mission to change the heart of America and one day aspire to reach the nations. We have ventured throughout the United States to diversify bloodlines with reputable pedigrees. It is with with much gratitude that we proudly introduce & offer families the most structurally beautiful, health cleared, highly intelligent, the best temperamented & highest quality ESA puppies that I have had the privilege to work and share life with. Our hope is that you would embark on one of life's greatest adventures & join with us, in this mission to change the world, one heart at a time!

MEET THE TEAM

JENNIFER

“I am inspired by nature and the diversity of our beautiful planet. I was blessed by parents who had a love for animals and a heart for youth. Raised in a blended family with foster and adopted siblings, I had a been given a unique gift. It's no surprise that I was destined to fulfill my inherent passion with Northern Heart Standards and combine it with with my love for children. We have watched our teens hearts transform through the love of a dog. Physical touch is a nearly impossible thing to offer a new foster child who enters at teenage-hood. The measure of joy a dog brings, offers such a healing & repair that cannot quite be put into words. I never grow tired of watching our children rest in their poodles.

FOUNDER AND TRAINER OF NORTHERN HEART STANDARDS

My name is Anna and I take photo shoots of our babies once per week. Photography has been my thing since about 9. I used to dress up our dog and take photoshoots like she was at a coffee house or on a date. You can see below some of my first pieces of photography from my early days. Sebastian our Moyen male is my personal dog. I was the first to hold him and I bonded with him right away. We love to run in the golf course together and play fetch. He is so smart and I think he is the most beautiful dog I have ever seen. Working with our Northern Heart Pups in the studio can be challenging. They are so cute and playful for our photo shoots that they can be a bit hard to capture as they are constantly moving. I am learning some new ways to get their cuteness and keep the camera stable. I like the challenge and they are really funny. I have a studio set up inside the whelping room so they can be close to Mama while we work. Penelope and I make a great team to keep them happy.

MIKE

Behind every great operation is a design engineer. Mike is an intricate part of our design team. We are blessed by his gift of engineering beautiful & safe obstacle courses and mobile play units for our Northern Heart Pups. Mike is heading the construction this coming summer for Northern Hearts New training facility. This will allow us to increase the curriculum training course area for the ultimate play & training experience. When he is not designing and building, Mike can be found snuggling the Northern Heart Pups to help out with social exposure. Mike is a huge part of our in house transport team & travels throughout the US to deliver our NorthernHearts safely to their homes. By trade Mike is a road engineer manager; paving roads and airports to keep our roadways safe here in Michigan.

As the world is ever changing around me, the one thing remains the same; the loyalty, commitment and joy that caring for animals brings to my life. I currently attend College, as a Pre-Veterinary student, commuting from home so I can keep an active role with the Northern Heart Babies. I've had an affinity for animals since childhood. From bunnies & turtles, to birds & frogs and pretty much any living, breathing thing; I would beg my mom to take it in. What I have learned is that it takes so much more than good intentions to care for and mold a puppy to be its best. I believe what makes us special, is our ability to empower our dogs with purpose by harvesting their strengths and investing in their weakness to provide balance. Our curriculum uses relationship as the basis and everything else flows from there. We stand by our dogs and are proud of each and every last one of our babies.

Olivia

Joe is the very heart of our foundation and is the son who moved us to see the power of a dog. His love for Penelope is beyond beautiful. He says she is perfect, haha. While there is no perfect dog, she was made for Joe. Joe inspired our movement to raise tiny heart healers that would be as near perfect as humanly possible. We are forever grateful to god for trusting Joe to us. There is no greater joy than the real spirit he brings to our family. Joe enjoys helping with temperament evaluations and daily activities.

Meet Brody

Brody brings a true engineer’s mindset to our program. He loves brainstorming solutions to everyday challenges and helps design functional strategies that allow us to maximize the use of our property—both for today and with future growth in mind. His organized and thoughtful approach helps us create enriching training environments and unique obstacle challenges that keep our dogs stimulated, confident, and thriving.

Brody is also my trusted sidekick for all things sanitary. As our dedicated barn hand, he works alongside me to maintain a clean, organized, and healthy environment for all of our dogs. His attention to detail ensures everything stays neat, safe, and well cared for.

Brody’s heart, however, truly belongs to Lady Annabella. The two of them are quite the dynamic duo. When we first started with poodles, Brody was convinced he didn’t want one. But the day I brought home Annabella, he looked at her and said, “Wait… what kind of dog is that?” When I told him she was a tuxedo poodle, he immediately replied, “That’s not a poodle!”

By the time I finished explaining her genetics, he was already completely in love—and his heart was sealed.

Now Brody and Annabella adventure together daily, creating new obstacle courses and training challenges for her and her puppies. Their teamwork helps develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and enrichment for the entire program.

It’s safe to say that even Brody has been captured by the love of a poodle. 🐾

Meet Boston

Boston is our little adventurer and explorer. He loves being hands-on with the puppies and spending as much time as possible outdoors. Whether he’s walking through the woods, playing in the sand, or exploring near the water, Boston enjoys bringing a dog along on his daily adventures.

These moments help the puppies experience the world in a natural way while building confidence and curiosity. Boston’s love for nature creates wonderful opportunities for early socialization, helping the puppies explore new sights, sounds, and environments.

For Boston, it’s the perfect way to enjoy his childhood—learning, exploring, and growing alongside the puppies. 🐾

Oliver makes us laugh so much. When I walk out of the living room, he keeps looking back just to make sure he keeps his eyes on me; he is a trip. You trained him well, no accidents on the rug! His sleep is TOTALLY AWESOME! As long as he sees me sleeping, he waits, until he sees me get up. We are truly so so happy with Sir. Oliver. Have a blessed week and thank you for choosing us.
